South Pike County School Board Receives Academic Updates, Approves Bonus for Employees

Recently the South Pike County School Board held their regular monthly meeting and heard several updates from administrators, along with approving a number of key motions.

Tanya Wilcher presented the superintendent’s report, noting that board meetings will be flexible during basketball season so parents can attend games. Meeting dates will be set one month in advance. Home basketball games are scheduled to begin after Thanksgiving break, and season passes are available for $70 on the HudlFan page. Wilcher also shared that the district is exploring possible upgrades to the track facility.

Davey Jones delivered the MHS Academic Report, highlighting the start of interim testing this week. He praised both students and teachers for their hard work and dedication.

He noted that MES has also begun interim testing and plans to conduct another round in the spring, with additional incentives for students who show growth.

The board approved the Consent Agenda, which included the October 21, 2025 meeting minutes and the financial statement, both accepted by acclamation.

A motion to approve the Resolution Between South Pike County School District and the Town of Delight regarding the use of the water tower for bus communication equipment passed 7–0, with a motion by Alyssa Duggan and a second by Cory Ballard.
