Ashdown Police Announce Breakthrough in Three Summer Shooting Cases; Suspect Faces New Charges

The Ashdown Police Department has announced major progress in three separate shooting investigations from July and August 2025, culminating in the arrest of Kourtlan Lewis, who is now facing multiple felony charges.

Lewis was taken into custody on September 15, 2025, in connection with the August 26 shooting on Westside Drive, where one person was injured. According to Chief of Police Boyd Kennemore, Lewis was found in possession of two firearms at the time of his arrest. Investigators believe those weapons are tied to all three shooting incidents.

The shootings under investigation include:

  • July 29, 2025 — A home on 4th Street was struck by multiple rounds while a woman and her child were inside. Officers recovered several 9mm shell casings and bullet fragments at the scene.
  • August 13, 2025 — A victim was discovered on West Wood Street with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
  • August 26, 2025 — A shooting on Westside Drive left one person injured. Witness accounts and video evidence identified Lewis as the suspect.

On December 9, 2025, Ashdown Police investigators obtained additional evidence linking Lewis to the July 29 and August 13 shootings as well.

As a result, Lewis now faces additional charges, including Terroristic Act and Battery in the First Degree.

Chief Kennemore stated that the department’s ongoing investigative efforts continue to focus on reducing gun violence in the community.
