Nashville Scrapper baseball team falls to Lake Hamilton Wolves

Monday afternoon, the Nashville Scrappers lost a non-conference game to the 5A Lake Hamilton Wolves by the score of 7 to 5. Lake Hamilton is 21 and 2 on the season and they are expected to be a contender for a state title in the higher classification.

Nashville lost an exhibit game to the Wolves in February to open the season by a score of 9 to 5.

Coach Zach Stewart said the Scrappers did what he wanted them to do Monday night and that was hit the ball and play solid defense. Nashville had 12 hits and the defense worked their way out of a few jams to keep the Wolves from scoring additional runs.

Monday’s game was a tune up for the upcoming 4A South Regional Tournament at Wilson Park this Thursday.

Stewart said the Scrappers will be facing a familiar foe in the Monticello Billies.

Nashville is the 7-4A conference champs and will be the number one seed. The Billies got into the regional tournament Monday night after Stuttgart defeated Warren in the final game of the season.

Stewart said Thursday is a big game, but the Scrappers have been playing playoff games all season long being in the 7-4A conference, but this game is a win or go home situation. He said they are focused on Monticello and they will be prepared for what comes next.
