Strong thunderstorms cause major gas leak in Mineral Springs

A portion of Mineral Springs residents had to be evacuated due to a major gas leak that was caused by strong thunderstorms on Friday night, early Saturday morning. It was reported a tree had fell on the Summit Utilities service station that was close to that area. Teams had to shut off services immediately while repairs were being made and debris was being cleared from the service station. Summit Utilities were able to reconnect services and ran safety checks before relighting appliances on Saturday afternoon and finished up the remaining customers on Sunday May 26th.
