Pike County FCS to Host Special Needs Trusts Workshop in Glenwood

Yesterday, we spoke with Eva Langley, Pike County Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) Agent, about an upcoming educational event focused on estate planning for individuals with special needs.
The event, titled “Special Needs Trusts,” will be held Monday, January 26th, 2026, at 5 p.m. in the Bainum Library Community Room in Glenwood. The purpose of the workshop is to help families learn how to protect loved ones with special needs through smart estate planning, something organizers say can provide long-term security and peace of mind.
Langley began by discussing the importance of estate planning and why it is critical for families to have plans in place.
She then highlighted some of the professionals she enjoys working with on these topics, specifically mentioning Lisa Shoalmire for her involvement and expertise.
In closing, Langley explained how improper or incomplete estate planning can negatively affect a person’s quality of life, emphasizing the importance of getting the process done correctly.
Stay tuned as we continue our conversation with Eva Langley about another upcoming event scheduled for next week, Cooking for a Change.
