County Officials Address Winter Storm Impacts in Howard and Hempstead Counties

County officials in both Howard and Hempstead Counties are providing updates following the winter storm that began affecting the area on Friday, January 23rd.
The Howard County Office of Emergency Management is asking residents to report any structural damage caused by the storm. Officials are compiling a list of damage reports, including photographs, to submit to state and federal officials. This information could help the county qualify for funding if disaster assistance becomes available. Residents who have sustained damage to farms, commercial buildings, or residences are encouraged to contact the Howard County Office of Emergency Management at 870-584-8024.
Meanwhile in Hempstead County, County Judge Jerry T. Crane says road crews were out Monday and continued working yesterday to address road conditions across the county. Judge Crane noted that sleet has made many roads extremely slippery and urged residents to drive with extreme caution if travel is necessary.
Judge Crane also reminded residents to continue staying warm and safe, to look out for others and pets, as very cold temperatures are expected to continue over the next several days.
County officials say they will continue monitoring conditions and provide updates as needed.
