Howard County Office EM Coordinator guest speaker at Nashville Rotary
Wednesday afternoon, Howard County Office of Emergency Management coordinator, Roddy Smith was the guest speaker at the Nashville Rotary Club meeting.
Smith stated he worked in the paper industry for 42-years and retired about 3 years ago. He said retirement wasn’t what he expected and gladly accepted the offer to be the OEM coordinator from Howard County Judge Brent Pinkerton.
Smith said he serves Howard County as the emergency management coordinator and he mentioned what he did during the water outage in Tollett and gas leak evacuation in Mineral Springs.
Smith said he is a liaison and resource person for county organizations including the volunteer fire departments. He said he helps secure ACT 833 funds for all of the county volunteer fire departments.
Smith said he is currently working on Howard County’s mitigation plan that must be submitted by 2025.
