Nashville City Council Approves Budget Amendment, Reviews December Financials

The Nashville City Council held their regular monthly meeting yesterday, where members reviewed and approved several financial items, including an amendment to the city’s 2025 budget.

Council members considered Resolution 2026-01, which amended the 2025 budget to reflect total income of $12,215,637.03 and total expenditures of $11,963,364.91. Following discussion, a motion to pass the resolution as read was made by Alderman Donna Harwell and seconded by Brent Thompson. The resolution was approved by the council.

Finance Director Kimberly Green also presented the December 2025 financial report. According to the report, total revenue for the month was $926,763.29, while expenditures totaled $1,033,146.96, leaving expenditures exceeding revenue by $106,383.67.

Green noted that General Fund expenditures included $86,371 for a Police Department grant expense, which represented the second payment to Turn-Key Mobile Inc. for laptops installed in police vehicles. City sales tax revenue increased by 4.8 percent, or $6,562 more than December 2024, while county sales tax revenue saw a 1 percent decrease, or $898 less than the same month last year. After discussion, the council approved a motion to accept the financial statement as presented.

Mayor Larry Dunaway also addressed the council, discussing work completed following the recent winter storm. Dunaway outlined the use of equipment such as road graders and the rental of a generator to power the city’s water pump, adding that a full expense report will be provided at the next meeting.

The next Nashville City Council meeting is scheduled for February 23 at noon.
