DFA Waives Late Fees, Extends Office Hours After Weather Closures

The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) announced it is waiving late fees for certain vehicle-related transactions and extending office hours at select Revenue Offices following recent weather-related closures.

According to DFA, all late fees for vehicle registrations that expired last week will be waived if the registration is renewed by Friday, February 6. The waiver is intended to ensure Arkansans are not penalized for missing deadlines during days when state offices were closed due to inclement weather.

The fee relief also applies to vehicle sales tax penalties. DFA confirmed that the 10% penalty normally assessed when a vehicle’s 60-day registration window expires will be waived if that deadline fell during the weather closures, provided the tax is paid by February 6.

In addition to the fee waivers, DFA will extend office hours at several Revenue Offices next week to accommodate residents catching up on transactions. A full list of participating offices and extended hours is available on the DFA website.

Residents are encouraged to complete renewals and payments by the February 6 deadline to take advantage of the waived penalties.
