University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture to Offer Pesticide Applicator Trainings in Nashville, Murfreesboro and Glenwood

The University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture will host a Pesticide Applicator Training this Thursday at 9 a.m. at the EH House, located at 425 N. 2nd Street in Nashville.
The training is geared toward farmers, landowners, lawn care professionals and others who apply restricted-use pesticides as part of their work. The cost to attend is $20. Participants can register or obtain more information by calling 870-845-7517.
Additional opportunities for private applicators are also scheduled. A Pesticide Private Applicator Training will be held February 24 at 6 p.m. at the Pike County Extension Office in Murfreesboro. Another session is set for March 11 at 10 a.m. at the Glenwood Bainum Library Community Room. The fee for each training is $20. For more information or to sign up for those sessions, call 870-285-2161.
Pesticide applicator training is required for individuals who use certain products classified as “restricted use.” These pesticides are effective in controlling weeds, insects and other agricultural pests, but they require specialized knowledge to ensure they are handled safely and legally.
During the course, participants learn proper mixing and application techniques, safety procedures, environmental protection practices, label interpretation and state and federal regulations. The training is designed to protect applicators, the public, crops, livestock and water sources from accidental exposure or misuse.
Organizers encourage anyone needing certification or recertification to attend one of the upcoming sessions.
