Scrappers Ready for 4A State Tournament, Worthen Emphasizes Focus and Fan Support

The Nashville Scrappers are headed to the 4A State Tournament this week, and Head Coach Aaron Worthen says his team is embracing the opportunity.
Yesterday, we had the chance to speak with Worthen to discuss the upcoming tournament run. He began by sharing what it means for his team to be playing on the state stage.
Worthen said the focus in practice will be on the same areas they have emphasized and worked to improve throughout the season.
No matter the opponent, Worthen emphasized that defense, rebounding, and controlling the tempo will be key components for success.
The Nashville Scrappers enter the state tournament after competing in the 4A South Regional Tournament, where they finished third. Nashville opened regional play with a dominant 71-29 win over the Monticello Billies. The Scrappers then fell in a hard-fought overtime battle to the Star City Bulldogs, 78-75, before bouncing back to defeat the Watson Chapel Wildcats 58-45 to secure their spot in the state tournament.
To wrap up part one of our interview, Worthen encouraged the Scrapper faithful to come out and support both the Scrappers and Scrapperettes as they compete this week.
Tomorrow, we’ll hear more from Coach Worthen as he previews Nashville’s first-round matchup against the Hall High Warriors in the 4A State Tournament.
