Unofficial Primary Election Results Released for Howard, Hempstead and Pike Counties

Voters across Howard, Hempstead and Pike counties cast their ballots Tuesday, March 3, 2026, in the Primary Election, with several local races and school millage questions decided and a few headed to runoff.

Howard County

In Howard County’s Republican race for State Representative District 88, Lonny Mack Goodwin received 248 votes, while Dolly Henley led with 448 votes.

In another Republican contest for Circuit Clerk, Alana Miller received 449 votes to Jana Tallant’s 805 votes.

For Republican Coroner, Matthew Smith secured 977 votes, defeating Alan Laxton, who received 268 votes.

Voters also approved the Isolated School Ballot Question, with 195 voting for and 4 against.

The Nashville School Millage vote in Howard County was narrowly defeated, with 449 voting for and 478 against.

Mineral Springs School District voters approved their millage 189 to 64, while Hempstead County voters within Mineral Springs supported it 58 to 41.

The Dierks School Millage passed 188 to 99.

The Cossatot River School Millage for Zones 4 and 7 failed, with 124 voting against and 73 for.

In the District 9-West Prosecuting Attorney’s race, Erin Hunter led with 1,103 votes, followed by Clayton Tinkes with 318 votes and Jana Bradford had 226 votes.

Hempstead County

In Hempstead County’s race for Circuit Judge, District 08-North, Division 2, Kolby Harper received 1,535 votes, while Matthew Wade Kimmel received 1,149 votes.

In the Republican race between Goodwin and Henley, Henley led with 1,697 votes to Goodwin’s 625.

For the Nashville School Millage in Hempstead County, voters approved the measure 64 to 31.

The Blevins School Millage was narrowly defeated in Hempstead County, 178 against to 175 for.

In the Republican race for Hempstead County Judge, Jerry T. Crain received 1,532 votes, defeating Kenneth Harvel, who had 842.

For County Sheriff, Justin Crane led with 1,274 votes, while Jesus J. Coronado received 1,102.

The Republican Circuit Clerk race between Gail Wolfenbarger and Becky Hood resulted in a tie, with both candidates receiving 1,168 votes. The race will move to a runoff.

In the Republican Justice of the Peace District 1 race, Dr. Claudia Griffin received 35 votes to Shelley Marie’s 7.

Pike County

In the Republican primary for Pike County Judge, Eddie Howard led with 1,222 votes, followed by Keith Couch with 489, Wade Stewart with 161 and Robert Shelby with 133.

For Pike County Sheriff and Collector, Travis Hill received 1,240 votes, defeating Randy H. Lamb, who had 761.

In Republican Justice of the Peace races, Roger D. Floyd defeated Payton Eckert 165 to 56 in District 1. In District 6, Ron Parker won with 164 votes over Kip Holbrook’s 52. In District 7, Robert Mac Irvin received 133 votes to Richard Mohlenhoff’s 74.

In the District 9-West Prosecuting Attorney’s race in Pike County, Erin Hunter led with 1,437 votes, followed by Jana Bradford with 351 and Clayton Tinkes with 334.

For South Pike School District Zone 7, Carrie Tidwell received 103 votes, defeating Alyssa Duggan, who had 74.

The South Pike County School District tax failed, with 610 voting against and 550 for.

In Centerpoint School District Zone 4, Larry A. Harvey received 10 votes to Pake Sutton’s 7.

The 40.9 mills school tax for Centerpoint School District failed, 200 against to 155 for.

The Kirby School District tax also failed, 331 against to 215 for.

In the Nashville School District 31.70 mills tax vote in Pike County, the measure resulted in a 3-3 tie.

The 43.0 mills school tax for Dierks School District in Pike County failed, with 74 voting against and 37 for.

All results are unofficial until certified by county election officials.
