Howard County Christian Health Center Director Highlights Services, Volunteer Needs to Rotary Club

Steve Reeder, executive director of the Howard County Christian Health Center in Nashville, spoke to the Nashville Rotary Club this week about the organization’s mission and services to residents in the surrounding area.

Reeder said the health center began in 2007 at First Baptist Church in Nashville before relocating to its current home in the McKee Building on Sypert Street.

He noted that the center is always in need of volunteers. Opportunities include assisting with patient registration—held from 4 to 6 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month—as well as helping in the pharmacy and serving as doctor and dental assistants. Reeder added that the clinic provides free medications, with the exception of opioids. He said the center currently supports about 10 diabetic patients by supplying insulin, along with education and testing supplies.

Reeder also pointed out that the facility is one of 19 free clinics in the state and one of only two that offer dental services. He discussed the center’s board of directors and outlined its 2026 budget.

According to Reeder, the clinic sees about 30 patients each month during its evening hours from 4 to 8:30. Each patient also meets with a prayer partner who offers support and helps connect them with additional community resources.
