Judge Chesshir grants continuance in King case

A pre-trial hearing for Gage Allen King was held Monday morning in Pike County Circuit Court in Murfreesboro before Judge Bryan Chesshir.
King is charged with felony manslaughter.
During the hearing, defense attorney Clayton Tinkes requested a continuance, citing pending evidence from the Arkansas State Crime Lab that has not yet been delivered. Judge Chesshir granted the request and rescheduled the pre-trial hearing for August 10, with trial set to begin September 3.
Chesshir noted that no further continuances will be granted in the case without good cause.
King was arrested and charged in connection with a June 18, 2025 incident on Pike City Road in Pike County.
According to an affidavit, 54-year-old Melissa Campbell drove 45-year-old Daniel Cain Lamb to a residence located at 220 Pike City Road. Authorities say Lamb exited the vehicle and approached King, who was allegedly armed with a .22-caliber rifle and instructed Lamb to stop.
When Lamb continued approaching, King allegedly fired a single shot, striking Lamb in the chest.
Lamb re-entered the vehicle but was later pronounced dead at the intersection of Pike County Road and Arkansas Highway 26.
