Scrappers Stay Hot, Improve to 5-2 in Conference Play

Earlier this week, we had the opportunity to catch up with Nashville Scrappers Head Baseball Coach Zach Stewart to discuss the team’s recent performances and look ahead to upcoming matchups.
Coach Stewart opened by discussing the Malvern Leopards noting that they lead their conference and will enter the regional tournament as the No. 1 seed.
A key contributor in that matchup was pitcher Dalton Manlove, who earned the win after throwing five innings and recording six strikeouts. Stewart took a moment to recognize Manlove’s performance on the mound.
Offensively, the Scrappers delivered a strong showing. Gauge Applegate went 3-for-4 at the plate, while Zeus Hutchinson finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Karson Chambers also contributed with a 2-for-3 performance and two RBIs of his own. Nashville’s balanced attack powered them to a decisive 12–2 win over Malvern.
Stewart added that the team showcased extra-base power throughout the game, finishing with five doubles.
The Scrappers carried that momentum into Tuesday with a strong performance in 7-4A Conference play, defeating the Hope Bobcats 9–1. Hope’s lone run came in the bottom of the first inning, while Nashville controlled the game from that point forward.
Jayden Goodson picked up the win on the mound, pitching five innings and striking out six. At the plate, Gauge Applegate stayed hot, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Peyton Fritts and Zeus Hutchinson each added speed on the bases with two stolen bases apiece.
With the win, Nashville improves to 5–2 in the 7-4A Conference.
The Scrappers are scheduled to face the Hope Bobcats again tomorrow at Wilson Park, with first pitch set for 5 p.m. Live coverage will be available on B99.5.
Stay tuned as we continue our conversation with Coach Stewart, who will share more insight on the Hope Bobcats.
