Mineral Springs City Council Reviews Monthly Reports, Approves Staffing Changes

Earlier this week, the Mineral Springs City Council held their regular monthly meeting, covering department reports and approving updates within city operations.

For the month of April, the Mineral Springs Police Department reported issuing seven citations, completing five offense reports, and making three arrests.

According to Police Chief Francisco Mercado, Officer William Harberson has resigned from the department and relocated to Carroll County in north Arkansas. Mercado noted that, under state law, Carroll County will reimburse the City of Mineral Springs for Harberson’s training, salary, and uniforms. He also shared that a new officer is set to attend the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy beginning May 4.

The Mineral Springs Fire Department reported holding two drills during the month and responding to a total of eight calls. Of those, seven were medical-related, while one was a weather-related call.

In other business, the council approved staffing adjustments within the city’s water department. Chrishauna Harris will fill a 30-hour position as Water Clerk, while Financial Secretary Stephanie Harrison will assume financial responsibilities for the department on a 90-day trial basis.
