Nashville Scrappers defeated by Dardanelle Sand Lizards

The Nashville Scrappers played hard Friday night but did not have an answer for Creed Vega and the Dardanelle Sand Lizards.

Dardanelle forced a turnover on Nashville’s first possession and scored on a quarterback keeper by Vega. On Dardanelle’s next possession, Nashville’s defense forced a turnover, but the Scrappers were only able to score on a field goal with two minutes and 54 seconds to play in the first quarter.

Dardanelle would score 17 points in the second quarter and increase their lead to 24 to 17 at the half.

Nashville and Dardanelle would go back and forth in the third quarter, however the Sand Lizards would increase their lead to 14 at the end of the quarter to take a 44 to 30 lead into the final quarter of play.

Nashville attempted a comeback and cut the score to seven with 6:24 to play in the game, but on Nashville’s next possession, Dardanelle’s defense intercepted a Scrapper pass that secured the win for the Sand Lizards.

Nashville will have an open date this week and will host the Arkadelphia Badgers on Friday, September 27 on the Hill at 7 pm.

In other action around the area, Dierks defeated Parkers Chapel 58 to 8, Fordyce defeated Mineral Springs 58 to 10 and Southwest Christian in Little Rock defeated Blevins.
