Nashville Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Firearm Bust

On August 19th, a routine traffic stop in Nashville turned into a significant drug and firearm seizure when K9 Officer Greg Parker pulled over a speeding vehicle.

According to the affidavit, the driver, identified as 53-year-old Garry Shaun Schrader, reportedly informed Officer Parker that he had a pistol and either a shotgun or rifle in the vehicle. During the stop, Schrader was observed making suspicious movements towards the console, prompting Parker to instruct him to stop.

When asked for his driver’s license, Schrader offered conflicting explanations, claiming it was either at home, lost, or stolen. A subsequent check with the on-duty dispatcher revealed that Schrader’s license was suspended and that he was a convicted felon.

To investigate further, Officer Parker deployed his K9 partner, Apollo, to perform an open-air sniff of the vehicle. Apollo’s alert indicated the presence of drugs. A search of the vehicle uncovered a .22 caliber rifle, which was confirmed as stolen. Additionally, a black lock box was found containing suspected methamphetamine, hydrocodone, oxycodone, and a Hi-Point 9 mm pistol with six rounds of ammunition under the driver’s seat.

Schrader was arrested and transported to the Howard County Detention Facility, where he faces multiple charges: simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of methamphetamine with the purpose to deliver, possession of firearms by a certain person and theft by receiving.
