Dierks School Board Approves 2024-2025 Budget and New Technology Director

Monday night, most of the Dierks School Board meeting revolved around the district’s 2024-2025 budget.

District treasurer Kayla Jones reported she transferred over $700,000 from the district’s operating budget to the building fund at the end of the 2023-2024 school fiscal cycle. She said the building fund now has a balance of $3.8 million.

Jones reported the district has an increase of 25 students and the board approved the transfer of one student into the district, three out of the district and rejected the request of one student who wanted to transfer into the district.

Jones stated the district has depleted all of it’s ESSR funds, however, the district will receive a little over $31,000 in student growth funds.

Jones presented the board with a $15 million dollar budget. Board members approved the district’s 2024-2025 budget which must be submitted to the state by September 30th, the 2024-2025 Federal budgets and the district’s 2024-2025 athletic budget.

Following a short executive session, the board approved Superintendent Grove Hill’s recommendation to hire Doug Simpson as the district’s Technology Director.
