Arkansas Man Arrested After Alleged Domestic Assault on Pregnant Woman

A 28-year-old man was arrested following a reported domestic disturbance in Prescott, according to authorities.

Officers with the Prescott Police Department were dispatched around 5:08 p.m. on April 21st to a residence on East Laurel Street after a caller requested assistance removing a man from the home.

According to the report, officers arrived to find a woman outside the residence yelling while the suspect exited the home. Police determined the man had been living at the residence for an extended period of time.

During the investigation, the woman told officers the suspect had been verbally and physically abusive toward her and alleged that he assaulted her earlier in the day while the two were at work. She reported the suspect choked her during an altercation that occurred around 1 p.m.

Police documented visible injuries to the woman’s neck, including scratches and a small laceration. The report also stated the woman alleged there had been repeated incidents of physical abuse in the past, including choking, pushing, and striking her. Authorities noted the woman is approximately four months pregnant and that the suspect was aware of the pregnancy.

The suspect, identified as 28-year-old Clyde Ricks of Hope, was taken into custody at the scene and transported to the Nevada County Detention Center.

Ricks was charged with domestic battery in the third degree. The investigation remains ongoing.
