South Pike County School Board Approves Budget and Resolution with Delight

On Monday night, the South Pike County School Board held their regular monthly meeting, where they unanimously approved the proposed district budget for the 2024-2025 school year.

Superintendent Tanya Wilcher presented a resolution concerning the school district’s use of property for a bus lot. Wilcher found out that the district had to inform the city of Delight by May 2024 if they wished to continue to use the property.

Wilcher acknowledged that she wasn’t initially aware of the deadline, but after reviewing the documentation, she expressed regret for not meeting with the town council sooner.

During her report, Wilcher shared the terms of the agreement reached with the city of Delight, which will allow the school district to use the bus lot for storage and maintenance of school buses.

After further discussion, the board voted unanimously to approve the resolution, solidifying the partnership between the South Pike County School District and the town of Delight.

The board’s decisions reflect their commitment to enhancing operational efficiency while fostering collaborative relationships with local governments.
