Chamber Coffee Event Brings Attention to Growing Foster Care Needs in Howard County

May is Foster Care Awareness Month, and The CALL of Howard County hosted a Chamber Coffee at the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce office on Wednesday, May 13, to raise awareness about the needs of children in foster care across the region.
During the event, The CALL displayed a chain made of 300 blue paper clips. The color blue symbolizes Foster Care Awareness Month, while the 300 links represented the children currently in foster care in the local area. Organizers said each paper clip symbolized a child with a name, a story, and a need for hope, stability, and support.
The CALL of Howard County works to recruit, train, and support local foster families while also bringing attention to the growing needs of children and families impacted by foster care.
Executive Director Holli Boyett said the organization exists to serve children in foster care and to help connect the community with opportunities to make a difference.
Boyett also highlighted presentations that members of The CALL can provide for churches, civic groups, and local organizations to help educate the public about foster care and ways to get involved.
She further discussed several ways individuals and groups can support the organization and local foster families through volunteering, donations, and community involvement.
Community members can support The CALL of Howard County by opening their homes to foster children, supporting foster families, volunteering, donating, and praying for children and families involved in the foster care system.
