Developing Howard County Committee Discusses Progress and Community Needs at Monthly Meeting

Last Thursday, the Developing Howard County committee met for the monthly meeting on the Nashville campus of UA Cossatot.

Greg Revels was in attendance representing the Sevier County Economic Development Board, which is called FRIENDS. Revels explained how the Sevier County board was started. He said they conducted a SAIDS survey in 2019 and held community meetings. Revels said through that process they identified several areas of need in Sevier County. That list included the need for more housing, for faster broadband internet, business retention and business growth, entertainment and a hospital.

Revels reported the county has built a new hospital and just about everyone who wants fast broadband internet has access to it. He said they are still working on affordable housing and growing new businesses and retaining their existing businesses.

Recently, Developing Howard County conducted an online survey. Executive Director Vanessa Weeks reported over 300 Howard County residents took the survey. Results from that survey will be revealed during a public meeting tonight at 5:30 pm on the Nashville campus of UA Cossatot.
