MURFREESBORO NURSING HOME CLOSED BY STATE; RESIDENTS RELOCATED

MURFREESBORO, Ark. — The Murfreesboro nursing home was officially closed Wednesday, May 20, after the Arkansas Department of Long-Term Care revoked the facility’s license to operate, according to sources familiar with the situation.
All residents were required to be relocated to other nursing facilities before the end of the day Wednesday. Nursing homes and medical transport teams from Nashville, Glenwood, Prescott and Dierks arrived in Murfreesboro throughout the day to assist with moving residents to new facilities.
Family members reportedly were not directly notified by the Murfreesboro nursing home about the closure. Instead, several families said they learned of the situation after being contacted by other nursing facilities offering placement options for their loved ones.
According to an unidentified source, administrators at the Murfreesboro facility were informed Wednesday morning that the state had revoked the nursing home’s operating license. Later that afternoon, at approximately 3 p.m., owner Sandra Tidwell was escorted from the building by state officials.
Several family members told reporters the facility had struggled with compliance issues for months. Concerns reportedly included staffing problems and unpaid employees. Sources stated that several workers had not received paychecks in recent weeks.
The closure leaves approximately 50 employees without jobs.
State officials have not yet released additional details regarding the specific violations or circumstances that led to the license revocation.
