Dierks School Board Approves Coaching Hire, Increases Golf Stipend

The Dierks School Board recently held a special called meeting where board members approved several personnel and stipend-related measures for the upcoming school year.

During the meeting, board members voted unanimously to hire Marcus Wright for the 2026-27 school year. Wright will serve under the district salary schedule and will also receive assistant football and assistant baseball coaching stipends, following the recommendation of Superintendent Grover Hill and the district hiring committee.

Coach Wright holds degrees from Ouachita Baptist University and University of Arkansas at Monticello.

Wright also brings successful coaching experience to the district, having been part of coaching staffs that compiled a 4-1 record against Dierks during his five years coaching football, including Gurdon’s 49-12 victory over the Outlaws last season. Throughout his coaching career, Wright has coached football, baseball, basketball, and track at various levels.

The board also approved an increase to the district’s golf stipend, raising it to $1,000.

In additional business, board members approved the finalized additional duty list as presented during the meeting.
