Nashville Junior Scrappers Dominate Jr Cobras in Thursday Night Showdown
The Nashville Junior Scrappers showcased their prowess on Thursday night, decisively defeating the Jr Cobras of Fountain Lake with a final score of 41 to 12.
The game kicked off with the Junior Scrappers winning the coin toss, setting the tone for an explosive start. Quarterback Jacoby Hopson quickly made his mark, scoring the first touchdown of the night. The successful extra point by Bayron Marillo gave the Scrappers an early 7-0 lead.
The Jr Cobras attempted to respond but faced a setback when they failed to convert on a critical fourth down, handing possession back to Nashville.
Hopson continued his impressive performance, connecting with Applegate for a 24-yard touchdown pass, followed by another successful extra point, extending the lead to 14-0.
In the second quarter, Hopson found Applegate again, this time on a stunning 44-yard touchdown pass, with the extra point to follow.
With 4:42 left in the half, the Jr Cobras managed to score on a fumble punt but missed the two-point conversion, bringing the score to 14-6. However, the Scrappers weren’t done yet; Hopson rushed for another touchdown, followed by a successful extra point, pushing the score to 21-6.
Skyler Ramsire joined in on the scoring frenzy, adding another touchdown to the board, and with the extra point good, the score swelled to 35-6.
Hopson capped off a stellar first half with another touchdown, sending the teams into halftime with Nashville leading 41-6.
Upon returning from the locker room, the sportsmanship rule went into effect, and both teams played a more cautious second half. Neither squad found the end zone in the third quarter, with the defenses tightening up.
The Jr Cobras managed to score their final touchdown in the fourth quarter, but their extra point attempt was unsuccessful, sealing the game at 41-12 in favor of the Junior Scrappers.
With this victory, the Junior Scrappers improved their conference record to 3-0 and their overall season record to 4-2. This week the Junior Scrappers will travel to Bauxite to take on the Junior Miners. Kickoff is set for 7pm and B99.5 will have the live coverage.
