Nashville Man Charged with Second-Degree Battery Following Clermont Street Stabbing

On Friday, May 29, 25-year-old Davonte Witherspoon of Nashville was charged with Second-Degree Battery in connection with a stabbing incident that occurred at a residence on Clermont Street.

According to a report from the Nashville Police Department, officers were dispatched to 212 Clermont Street on May 16 in reference to a stabbing.

The victim, 36-year-old Kejuan Jetton, told officers that he and his wife, 41-year-old Jakeisha Jetton, had been involved in a verbal argument. Jetton said he was gathering his belongings to leave the residence when he accidentally bumped into his wife. He stated that she then tripped over a lunch box that was on the floor and fell.

Jetton reported that he told Jakeisha Jetton and Davonte Witherspoon, who had entered the room, that he did not want to fight. He alleged that Witherspoon then approached him and stabbed him in the left side of the abdomen with a knife.

Witherspoon was subsequently arrested and charged with Second-Degree Battery.

Pafford EMS evaluated Jetton at the scene. He later transported himself to Howard Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for his injuries and released.

Witherspoon’s pre-trial date is August 5 with a trial date of August 25th.
