Hempstead County Voters Show Strong Support for Local Hospital

On June 9, Hempstead County voters made a powerful statement about the future of healthcare in Hope and throughout the county. With 82 percent of voters approving a three-fourths cent sales tax, residents chose to invest in their local hospital, helping preserve access to emergency services and ensuring healthcare remains close to home for the people of Hempstead County.
Southwest Arkansas Regional Medical Center extends its sincere gratitude to every voter who took the time to learn about the issue, engage in meaningful discussions, and participate in the election process.
This historic vote would not have been possible without the vision, determination, and unwavering commitment of the community leaders who have worked tirelessly to support the hospital since May 2024, when Steward Health Care filed for bankruptcy. Their dedication, along with the support of countless citizens, helped secure a path forward for local healthcare.
While important work remains ahead, Southwest Arkansas Regional Medical Center is committed to earning and maintaining the trust placed in it by the residents of Hempstead County. The hospital will continue working diligently to provide high-quality healthcare services, strengthen its operations, and build a sustainable future for the families, businesses, and future generations who call Hempstead County home.
The outcome of this vote demonstrates the community’s strong belief in the importance of local healthcare and its commitment to protecting and preserving access to essential medical services for years to come.
