Woman Charged with First-Degree Terroristic Threatening Following Alleged Text Message Threats

A woman has been charged with first-degree terroristic threatening after allegedly sending a series of threatening text messages that caused a local resident to fear for her safety and the safety of her children.

According to a report filed by Deputy Colt Kuykendall of the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, the victim contacted authorities on May 28 regarding an argumentative text message exchange that had occurred the previous day with 29-year-old Lauren D. Harris, who was identified as the suspect in the case.

The victim provided investigators with copies of the messages, which allegedly contained multiple threats of violence directed toward both the victim and her child. Deputy Kuykendall reviewed the messages as part of the investigation.

According to the report, the victim told deputies she feared for her life and the lives of her children because of the threats that were allegedly made during the exchange.

Following the investigation, Harris was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening.
