Delight man arrested for terroristic threatening

On October 24th, 2024 Pike County Dispatch received a 911 call from a resident of Delight stating that her son 41 year old Matthew Bearden of Delight had PTSD and had taken a lot of medicine, and was not in his right mind.

According to the affidavit Pike County Deputies Bret Reid, Brandon Vines, Jim Garrett, and Sheriff Travis Hill responded and was advised by dispatch that Bearden allegedly hit his mother and choked her and then turned on his Uncle and started hitting and choking him as well.

As reported, when deputies made contact with Bearden who failed to follow commands, Deputy Vine deployed his taser that had no effect on Bearden. After a second time deputies were able to take Bearden into custody.

Bearden was transported by ambulance to Baptist Hospital in Arkadelphia where he refused treatment for his mental health. Officers then transported him to the Pike County Jail where he was charged with Domestic Battery in the 2nd Degree and Terroristic Threatening in the first Degree.
