Nashville K9 Officer Makes Drug Bust During Traffic Stop

On November 16, 2024, a routine traffic stop in Nashville led to the discovery of drugs and paraphernalia, resulting in the arrest of 28-year-old Brandon Joe Fontenot from Beaumont, Texas.

Officer Greg Parker pulled over a blue Dodge passenger car for expired vehicle tags. Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Parker observed the driver, later identified as Fontenot, exhibiting suspicious behavior—shaking visibly and moving around a lot, with red and glassy eyes.

According to the affidavit, Officer Parker then deployed his K9 partner, Thor, to conduct an open-air sniff around the vehicle. Thor reportedly indicated the presence of drugs. Fontenot allegedly admitted to having partially smoked marijuana cigarettes in the car, but initially claimed there were no other substances.

After informing Fontenot of his intention to search the vehicle, the driver reportedly revealed there was also cocaine inside. During the search, Officer Parker discovered a small plastic bag containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, a pipe with suspected marijuana residue, a small amount of green plant material believed to be marijuana, a marijuana cutting tray, and a THC vape.

Fontenot was arrested and transported to the Howard County Detention Facility. He faces charges of possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (cocaine), possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
