Dierks School Board Approves Handbook Changes for New School Year

The Dierks School Board met in regular session Tuesday, approving student handbook changes for the upcoming school year and a staff stipend.

During the meeting, principals from each campus reviewed proposed revisions to their student handbooks.

JoAnn Walters Elementary School Principal Beth Shelton outlined several changes for elementary students.

Shelton also discussed updates to the school’s student retention policy.

Dierks High School Principal Paul Ernest reviewed revisions to the high school’s academic policies and grading system.

Ernest also explained changes to the district’s policy regarding unexcused absences.

He concluded by discussing revisions affecting eligibility for extracurricular activities.

Following the presentations, board members approved the handbook changes for both JoAnn Walters Elementary School and Dierks High School.

In other business, the board approved a $600 stipend for Shasati Parsons to serve as the district’s Medicaid coordinator.
