Burn Bans Now in Effect for Howard, Hempstead and Pike Counties

Burn bans are now in effect for Howard, Hempstead and Pike counties as dry conditions continue to increase the risk of wildfires.

Howard and Hempstead county officials issued burn bans on Wednesday, Aug. 5, while Pike County followed by issuing a burn ban on Thursday, Aug. 6.

While the burn bans remain in effect, residents are prohibited from outdoor burning until the orders are lifted by county officials.

Officials encourage residents to monitor local conditions and comply with the burn bans to help prevent grass and brush fires.
