Four Juveniles Arrested After Alleged Garage Burglary in Texarkana

Four juveniles were arrested Tuesday morning after a neighbor reported seeing several youths leave a garage near College Drive and Tanglewood Street and run from the area.

According to the Texarkana Police Department, Officer Rayveun Blakely was nearby when the 911 call came in and quickly located the group as they crossed Richmond Road toward an apartment complex on Nichols Drive.

The juveniles split up when they saw the officer. Blakely pursued one juvenile, who attempted to jump a fence but fell, allowing the officer to catch him behind a home on Shady Lane. Other officers located three additional juveniles inside the apartment complex.

Officers investigating the residence reportedly saw empty shoe boxes scattered throughout the garage and heard an alarm sounding inside the home.

Police later recovered 18 pairs of shoes, including several pairs of brand-new, high-dollar shoes and Nike Air Jordans, from backpacks worn by the juveniles.

The four juveniles, ages 14, 14, 15 and 16, were arrested and charged with burglary of a habitation. The 15-year-old who fled from Officer Blakely was also charged with evading detention.

The juveniles were taken to the Juvenile Detention Center and turned over to juvenile authorities.

Police credited the neighbor’s quick 911 call with helping officers respond quickly and make the arrests.
