Hope Man Charged with Multiple Counts of Breaking and Entering in Ashdown Vehicle Thefts
D’Angelo Cortez Palmer, a 20-year-old from Hope, has been charged with six counts of Breaking or Entering and Theft of Property in connection to a series of vehicle break-ins at the Ashdown Apartments on November 27, 2024.
According to the affidavit, Ashdown Police Sgt. Jarrod Simmons responded to reports of five vehicles being broken into at the apartments. Victims reported their vehicles were unlocked and appeared to have been rummaged through, with contents such as glove boxes and consoles in disarray.
One victim told authorities that her wallet was missing, and she had received a notification from CashApp for an attempted transaction of $491.66 at a local store. Additionally, the victim reported that her children’s Social Security cards were also stolen.
The investigation revealed that Palmer allegedly attempted to purchase a Sony PlayStation 5 Console for $491.66 at the Ashdown Walmart using the stolen card.
Further investigation linked Palmer to similar vehicle break-ins in Texarkana, Texas, where credit and debit cards were reportedly used during the same time period.
Palmer is currently facing multiple charges related to the thefts, and further investigations are ongoing.
