Hopson Scores Five as Nashville Rolls Past Bismarck

The Nashville Scrappers turned in a dominant performance Friday night on the Hill, defeating the Bismarck Lions 49-25 behind a five-touchdown night from Jacoby Hopson.

Hopson scored three touchdowns through the air and two on the ground, while quarterback DJ Jefferson connected with him for three touchdown passes.

Nashville jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, with Hopson scoring on a tunnel screen and Jakhari Starr breaking loose for an 85-yard touchdown run.

Bismarck answered in the second quarter, but Marquez Jefferson blocked the extra point. Nashville then took control, scoring three more touchdowns before halftime to take a 35-6 lead into the break.

Hopson added two more rushing touchdowns in the second half to finish the night with five scores.

After the game, Hopson talked about his ability to make an impact anywhere on the field.

Head Coach Brad Chesshir praised his team’s performance while also giving credit to the Bismarck Lions and their head coach.

Chesshir also discussed some areas Nashville will need to improve.

He talked about the chemistry between Hopson and Jefferson and what makes that combination so effective.

Chesshir also addressed the injury to Jakhari Starr, saying he’ll continue to monitor him and provide an update.

The coach made sure to recognize the work of Nashville’s offensive line in the victory.

And with the Scrappers now preparing for their next matchup against the Magnolia Panthers, Chesshir talked about what Nashville will be focused on this week.
