Mineral Springs School Board Holds Regular Monthly Meeting part 2

The Mineral Springs School Board convened on Tuesday evening, January 28, 2025, for their regular monthly meeting, where several important updates and reports were presented.

District Treasurer Frankie Tollett provided a detailed financial report, revealing a legal fund balance of $2,071,501.70 (excluding CDs) and $2,143,342.23 (with CDs). The total all-fund balance for the district stands at $3,136,872.69. Following the report, the board unanimously approved the financial statement with a motion from board member Dorothy Vaughn, seconded by Ray Hawkins.

K-12 Principal Stacey Gaddis shared news regarding academic growth in the district. She reported positive improvements in math and English Language Arts (ELA) at the elementary level. Additionally, Principal Gaddis highlighted that high school teachers had recently started implementing Response to Intervention (RTI) strategies with students, aiming to provide targeted support for those who need it most. She also outlined the upcoming interim testing schedule, with K-6 students set to begin testing next week and 7-12 grades following shortly after. These assessments will serve as preparations for the state tests in May.

In another exciting update, Principal Gaddis informed the board that Counselor Samantha Fant had been contacted by the Rotary Club of Nashville. The club offered to send two Mineral Springs students to a leadership camp in Ferndale and is considering awarding two scholarships to seniors from the district. Additionally, teachers were given nomination forms for Boys and Girls State, providing students with further opportunities for growth and leadership development.

The meeting was productive, with the board continuing to focus on both the financial health and academic success of the district.
