Nashville School Board Hears Social Media Litigation Presentation

Brian Reddick, founder of Reddick Law, presented information to the Nashville School Board during a special-called meeting regarding litigation involving major technology companies and what he described as the youth social media addiction crisis.

Reddick discussed his firm’s litigation against Meta, Google/YouTube, TikTok and Snap Inc., alleging the companies designed features that encourage compulsive use among minors.

Reddick began by explaining how he became involved in the litigation.

According to Reddick, lawsuits allege the companies knowingly designed features to maximize compulsive use among minors while telling parents, students and schools their platforms were safe.

He also told the board that a jury found Meta and YouTube liable in March 2026. Reddick said the litigation includes more than 1,600 plaintiffs nationwide and more than 800 school districts.

Reddick also discussed a reported $17.1 billion settlement involving Meta and 51 state attorneys general. He said the next phase of the litigation will focus on claims involving school districts.

Reddick explained why he believes school districts should consider his legal team, citing in-state credibility, national trial experience, previous results, local standing, national precedent and no cost to the district.

He also outlined the process, including consultation, engagement, filing and resolution.

Following the presentation and further discussion, the board decided to take additional time to consider the information. The board may revisit the matter during Monday night’s regularly scheduled meeting.
