Nashville Head Basketball Coach speaks at Nashville Rotary meeting
Nashville High School boys basketball coach Aaron Worthen spoke at the Nashville Rotary Club meeting on Wednesday.
Worthen was joined by seniors Channing Scott and Kasen Morgan, also in attendance representing the senior Scrapperettes was Caroline Dean and Mercy Hagler.
The Scrapperettes are 18 and 7 on the season and 5 and 1 in conference and they are tied with De Queen for first place in the conference. However, the Scrapperettes currently hold the tie-breaker over the De Queen Lady Leopards for the number one seed at regionals. Worthen stated he was impressed with this year’s girls team. He explained they have played most of the season short-handed with the absence of Kennedi Scrivner and Lyris Bennett.
Worthen reported the junior boys are 18 and 3 on the season and 7 and 2 in conference and they can win the district title tomorrow night with a victory over Magnolia.
Worthen said this year’s team is average just under 70 points a game with four players in double digit scoring. He said Morgan was his leading rebounder with 7 per game and Morgan also average 3 steals a game.
With a victory Friday night against the Hope Bobcats, the Scrappers will secure a spot in the regional tournament in two weeks at Monticello.
