Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office Investigates Fatal Incident on Springlake Road

The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal incident that occurred during the early morning hours of Sunday, September 20, on Springlake Road in Spring Hill.

According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched at approximately 2:32 a.m. to Southwest Arkansas Regional Medical Center regarding an incident that had occurred in the 900 block of Springlake Road.

Deputies Johnny Weaver and Wayne responded to the hospital, where they contacted Hope Police Department Sergeant Jimmy Bush.

Authorities said 23-year-old Queyla Orozco had been transported to the hospital in an unresponsive condition at approximately 2:11 a.m.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were told that Orozco had jumped from a moving vehicle following an argument with her boyfriend, who was driving the vehicle.

At approximately 2:52 a.m., Orozco was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Hempstead County Coroner David Peters responded and took custody of Orozco’s body. The body was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory, where a medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

The Hempstead County Sheriff’s Office says the circumstances surrounding Orozco’s death remain under investigation. Officials say no further conclusions regarding the circumstances or cause of death are being released at this time.
