Howard County Historical Society to Host Family Day This Sunday

The Howard County Historical Society is inviting families and community members to come out this Sunday for Family Day, an afternoon focused on local history, community and bringing the past back to life.

The event will be held from 1 to 3 p.m.

We had the opportunity to speak with Historical Society members Jordan Tollett and Jason Horne about the upcoming event. Tollett shared some additional details about what visitors can expect during Family Day.

Horne also discussed a special part of the event—the ribbon cutting for the Historical Society’s 1934 fire truck.

The 1934 fire truck is more than just a historic vehicle. Horne explained that its preservation represents the larger mission of the Historical Society: keeping pieces of Howard County’s past alive for future generations.

For the Historical Society, events like Family Day are also an opportunity to connect with the community while sharing the area’s history.

Tollett said the organization is looking for ways to give back to the community and create events that bring people together.

Family Day will take place this Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. Community members are encouraged to attend, learn more about local history and take part in an afternoon designed to bring the community together.
