Sage Man Charged After Allegedly Paying for Auction Items With Bad Check

A Sage man is facing a felony charge after authorities allege he purchased more than $6,000 worth of auction items with a check that was returned for insufficient funds.
Nathan Daniel Nix, 33, is charged with hot check violation over $5,000 after allegedly paying Todd Morris Auction Company $6,047.50 with a check that bounced.
According to authorities, the items purchased and shipped to Nix’s Izard County home included more than 50 tires, tire machines, a four-post lift, a generator, a trailer and a popup camper.
The auction owner reportedly told authorities that Nix initially promised he “would take care of it,” but later stopped responding to phone calls.
Nix was arrested Sept. 22 on a warrant issued in February and bonded out the same day.
Hot check violation over $5,000 is a Class C felony punishable by three to 10 years in prison.
Nix is scheduled to appear in Hempstead County Circuit Court on Oct. 5.
