Dierks School Board Approves Renewals, Security Upgrades, and New Initiatives

The Dierks School Board met on Wednesday evening for their regular session, where several key decisions were made, including the renewal of contracts and approval of security upgrades for the district.

The board unanimously voted to renew Scott Feemster’s contract as high school principal for the 2025-2026 school year, as per the district’s salary schedule.

In another personnel matter, the board accepted the retirement of Linda Kitchens, who will step down as elementary principal effective June 30, 2025.

The board also approved several important safety and operational upgrades. A quote of $73,735.07 from Entry Shield Security, LLC was approved to install safety film on all district windows, with funds from a safety grant to cover the cost. Additionally, the board passed a motion to approve a $10,963.26 quote from Hope Fire Extinguisher Service, Inc. to update suppressant systems in both the elementary and high school cafeterias.

Looking ahead, the board gave the green light for an ACT Prep Mini Boot Camp, scheduled for March 10th, to help students prepare for the test. The board also voted to renew the district’s participation in the ASBA Workers’ Compensation and Trust for $9,375 for the coverage period of January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2025, as well as approve liability coverage for $6,987 and general liability for $541.

These motions were all passed unanimously by the board.
