Murfreesboro FFA Chapter Shines During National FFA Week

As part of National FFA Week, chapters across the country are reflecting on their efforts and the impact of the organization. This week, KMTB and KNAS took a moment to highlight local FFA chapters in the region, and today as we conclude our segment, we’re shining the spotlight on the Murfreesboro FFA Chapter.

We had the opportunity to speak with Advisor Blake Simmons, 9th graders Cooper Lowery and Adyson James, along with 10th grader Carter Gilmer, about their involvement in FFA and the influence the organization has had on them.

Simmons expressed his excitement for leading this dedicated group of young people and talked about the growth of the chapter, which has been a key part of their success.

Lowery, James, and Gilmer, though new to FFA, have been part of the organization for about two months and were inspired to join by family influences. Cooper shared that he’s currently training in agriculture mechanics and looks forward to participating in future events. Carter, motivated by his mother’s success—she was top five in the state during her school years—plans to participate in poultry judging. Adyson, who grew up around animals, was encouraged by her father to join FFA. She recently competed in the Girl Power competition, where she showcased a jewelry stand made of wood and acrylic.

Simmons also talked about the origins of the Girl Power competition, explaining how it’s sponsored and the positive impact it has had on students.

In conclusion, Simmons spoke about the rich tradition of the chapter and how excited he is to help continue that legacy.
