Mineral Springs Man Booked on Battery Charge Following School Investigation

A 35-year-old Mineral Springs man was booked into custody September 23 on charges of second-degree battery and parole violation following an investigation by local law enforcement.

According to the affidavit, law enforcement was contacted September 23 after a Mineral Springs School official reported that a kindergarten student had arrived at school with multiple injuries that appeared consistent with being struck with a belt.

Chief Deputy Joey Davis responded to the school and documented bruising and numerous large welts on the child.

The affidavit states investigators were told the child had been staying with his father, Brikary Nash, 35, of Mineral Springs.

The affidavit also states the child identified Nash as the person responsible for the injuries. The information was also provided to the Arkansas Department of Human Services during its investigation.

Nash was booked September 23 on charges of second-degree battery and parole violation.
