Hopson’s Five-Touchdown Night Powers Scrappers to 49-21 Victory

The Nashville Scrappers continued their undefeated run Friday night, overcoming a competitive first quarter before pulling away for a convincing 49-21 victory over the Fountain Lake Cobras.

With the win, Nashville improved to 5-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play, continuing to build momentum as the season moves forward.

The game opened with an exciting back-and-forth first quarter, with both teams finding the end zone multiple times.

With the Scrappers facing first-and-goal, Jacoby Hopson got Nashville on the scoreboard.

The extra point was good, giving the Scrappers an early 7-0 lead.

The Cobras quickly answered with a touchdown and successful extra point to tie the game at 7-7. Hopson then struck again for Nashville, with the extra point putting the Scrappers back in front.

The Cobras responded with another touchdown to even the score at 14-14, but Hopson wasn’t finished. He found the end zone again, giving Nashville a 21-14 advantage.

Before the first quarter came to a close, the Cobras scored once more, sending the teams into the second quarter tied at 21-21.

The second quarter belonged to Nashville.

Gauge Applegate broke the tie by scoring for the Scrappers, and Byron Murrillo added the extra point to put Nashville ahead 28-21.

The Scrappers’ defense held the Cobras scoreless for the remainder of the first half, allowing Nashville to take a 28-21 lead into halftime.

Coming out of the locker room, the Scrappers showed no signs of slowing down.

Hopson continued his spectacular night in the third quarter, scoring another touchdown to extend Nashville’s lead to 35-21 following the successful extra point.

And Hopson wasn’t done.

He found the end zone once again for his fifth touchdown of the night, while Murrillo converted the extra point to push the Scrappers’ advantage to 42-21.

With Nashville firmly in control, Bryce Perrin added to the scoring, hauling in a touchdown pass from DJ Jefferson.

Murrillo once again connected on the extra point, giving the Scrappers a commanding 49-21 lead.

The score remained unchanged the rest of the way, securing another impressive victory for Nashville.

Hopson’s five-touchdown performance was the highlight of the night, but the victory was a complete team effort. Jefferson, Perrin, Applegate and Murrillo all made important contributions as the Scrappers pulled away from the Cobras.

With the victory, Nashville remains perfect at 5-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play.

The Scrappers now turn their attention to the next challenge as they look to keep their undefeated season alive.
