Mineral Springs Generator Installation Expected by November 6

The Mineral Springs City Council was informed Monday night that a generator purchased with the help of a $55,000 grant from the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management is expected to be installed by November 6.

The grant was announced during the council’s September 14 meeting by Andy Franks of A.L. Franks Engineering. At that time, the city had received three bids for the generator project.

Integrity Electrical submitted a bid of $38,000, Contech Contractors bid $54,218, and NLC submitted a bid of $92,720. Franks recommended that the city accept Integrity Electrical’s bid, citing the company’s price being within the city’s budget and providing a personal reference for the contractor.

During Monday night’s meeting, City Treasurer Stephanie Harrison updated aldermen on the project’s timeline. A motion was made to pay Integrity Electrical for the generator and installation, with the stipulation that the check would not be mailed. Instead, payment would be given to the contractor when the generator was delivered and confirmed to be operating properly.

Attorney Provides Update on Juniel Case

City Attorney Aaron Brasel submitted a letter regarding the criminal case involving Denise Juniel. According to the letter, Brasel’s office had received information indicating that the amount taken by Juniel was less than the amount reported in the legislative audit.

Brasel also addressed the possibility of pursuing a civil case against Juniel. He stated that the city had a strong case but cautioned that collecting any judgment awarded would likely be the biggest challenge.

He estimated that pursuing the civil case could cost the city between $5,000 and $12,000.

Donated Dodge Charger Back in Service

Aldermen were also informed that a Dodge Charger donated to the city had been repaired and returned to service.

York Gary Autoplex replaced the vehicle’s motor at a cost of $8,700.
