Amity Man Faces Drug Charges Following Pike County Traffic Stop

A 53-year-old Amity man is facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Pike County on October 13.
According to a report filed by Arkansas State Police Trooper Micah Brown, the stop occurred at approximately 10:02 p.m. on U.S. Highway 70 near South Hall Equipment Company. Brown reported observing a silver truck traveling eastbound without license plate lights.
After initiating the traffic stop, Trooper Brown identified the driver as William Wheeler and obtained consent to search the vehicle.
During a pat-down search of Wheeler, Brown reported finding a white pill bottle concealed near the bottom of Wheeler’s left pant leg. Inside the bottle was a white, crystal-like substance that the trooper described as similar to methamphetamine.
According to the report, Wheeler was placed in handcuffs and advised of his Miranda rights. Wheeler later told the trooper that he also had a methamphetamine pipe concealed in the bottom of his right pant leg.
A subsequent search of the vehicle did not uncover any additional items, according to the report.
Wheeler was transported to the Pike County Jail and is facing charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance Schedule II and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
The charges are allegations, and Wheeler is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
