Scrappers Roll Past Hope 63-6 to Remain Undefeated

The Nashville Scrappers continued their dominant season Friday night, hitting the road to take on the Hope Bobcats and coming away with an impressive 63-6 victory. Nashville improves to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
The Scrappers set the tone early, as Jacoby Hopson scored four touchdowns in the first quarter to give Nashville a commanding 28-0 lead. Hopson continued his big night in the second quarter with a 41-yard touchdown run, extending the lead to 35-0.
Nashville’s defense also made its presence felt when Keshawn Jefferson recovered a Hope fumble. Quarterback DJ Jefferson followed with a 31-yard touchdown run, and Bo Dean added a defensive highlight with a pick-six touchdown to put the Scrappers ahead 49-0.
Al Green added a touchdown reception before linebacker Trunks Hawthorne scored in the third quarter, extending Nashville’s lead to 63-0. Hope scored its only touchdown in the fourth quarter, but the extra point was no good, making the final score 63-6.
Following the win, we caught up with Hopson to discuss the Scrappers’ offensive performance.
Head Coach Brad Chesshir said he was extremely proud of the team for coming out and handling business against the Bobcats.
With another convincing victory under their belts, the undefeated Scrappers will now turn their attention to their next opponent, the Malvern Leopards. Nashville will host the Leopards at home as the Scrappers look to keep their perfect season rolling.
