South Pike County School Board Explores Four-Day School Week

The South Pike County School Board discussed the possibility of transitioning to a four-day school week for the next school year during its regular monthly meeting Tuesday.

Superintendent Tanya Wilcher presented her report, highlighting the district’s ongoing exploration of a four-day school week.

Wilcher said surveys are being distributed to parents, students and staff to gather feedback on the proposed change. She reported that the majority of survey responses received so far favor moving toward a four-day schedule.

The district’s PPC will meet again to review possible school calendars as officials continue considering the proposal.

Wilcher also announced that senior recognition will take place Friday night during the Springhill game. The board’s November meeting has been rescheduled for Nov. 19.
